Jon as AWA World Champion |
Since entering professional wrestling in 1986, while still a freshman in college, Jon Stewart has done more with his life than most people could do in three lifetimes.
In 25 years he has: become a world champion professional wrestler, ran for the United States Congress, co-wrote a screenplay and a children's book. He is also a motivational/corporate speaker and has been a political/entertainment guest analyst for FOX News Network and CNN and has authored several articles for various websites. He has been honored for his work in the business community and was a former speaker for the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and Blue Cross/Blue Shield's High School Outreach Program. He currently runs a automobile and real estate company owned by his family. He also is a consultant for the Gagne Group which is located in Rochester, MN.
Jon's political journey started in 1994, when he made an impromptu appearance at a Mt. Prospect Village Board meeting and took the floor for fifteen minutes and gave the board members his own "State of the Village" speech. Calls poured into his home and the village hall from residents applauding his moxy to take on an ineffective government. He was then recruited by both the Illinois GOP and the Illinois Democratic party, and after choosing to stay with the GOP, his first official campaign began in 1996 when he ran for the IL House of Representatives and received over 28% of the votes in a district that usually votes 90% Democratic.
Since then, Jon Stewart, has worked to give the average citizen a chance at the American dream. He has proven, over and over that the "common man" can do great things in our society. He is not a career politician and has called for all candidates in the 1st District to take a pledge to stay in office for no longer than two-terms. He is a man who does not want to make a name for himself but to make a difference.
